This paper addresses the performance of MIMO-OFDM communication system in environments where the interfering noise exhibits non-Gaussian behavior due to impulsive phenomena. It presents the design and simulation of an iterative technique that aims to minimize the effect of impulsive noise on the performance of the MIMO-OFDM communication system under Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel. This is a new method to recover the signals corrupted by impulsive noise in MIMO-OFDM systems over In-home Power Line Channel. The location and amplitude Impulsive noise at the receiver using an adaptive threshold to be determined. Reduced Impulsive noise effects using the mask based on the soft decision method. By iteration, the original signal estimation can be used to improve the impulsive noise estimation. This continuous loop impulsive noise detection and mitigation a better estimate of the original signal is obtained. The Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of the MIMO-OFDM system in an impulsive noise environment was evaluated. The results show the superiority and robustness of the proposed method. This paper develops a new robust cyclostationary detection technique for spectrum sensing of OFDM-based primary users (PUs). To do so, an asymptotically constant false alarm rate (CFAR) multi-cycle detector is proposed and its statistical behavior under null hypothesis is investigated. Furthermore, to achieve higher detection capability, a soft decision fusion rule for performing cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) in secondary networks is established. The proposed CSS scheme aims to maximize the deflection criterion at the fusion center (FC), while the reporting channels are under Rayleigh fading. In order to be able to evaluate the performance of the cooperative detector, some analytic threshold approximation methods are provided for the cases where the FC has direct sensing capability or not. Through numerical simulations, the proposed local and CSS schemes are shown to significantly enhance CR network performance in terms of detection probability metric. Manuscript profile

Applying particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm has become a widespread heuristic technique in many fields of engineering. In this paper, we apply PSO algorithm in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and multipath fading channels. In the proposed method, PSO algorithm was applied to solve joint multiuser and inter-symbol interference (ISI) suppression problems in the code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems over multipath Rayleigh fading channel and consequently, to reduce the computational complexity. At the first stage, to initialize the POS algorithm, conventional detector (CD) was employed. Then, time-varying acceleration coefficients (TVAC) were used in the PSO algorithm. The simulation results indicated that the performance of PSO-based multiuser detection (MUD) with TVAC is promising and it is outperforming the CD. Manuscript profile

Goodness-of-Fit (GoF) based spectrum sensing of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signals is investigated in this paper. To this end, some novel local sensing methods based on Shapiro-Wilk (SW), Shapiro-Francia (SF), and Jarque-Bera (JB) tests are first studied. In essence, a new threshold selection technique is proposed for SF and SW tests. Then, three studied methods are applied to spectrum sensing for the first time and their performance are analyzed. Furthermore, the computational complexity of the above methods is computed and compared to each other. Simulation results demonstrate that the SF detector outperforms other existing GoF-based methods over AWGN channels. Furthermore simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed SF method in additive colored Gaussian noise channels and over fading channel in comparison with the conventional energy detector. In this paper, the statistical distribution of the received quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signal components is analyzed after propagation in a dispersion uncompensated coherent optical fiber link. Two Gaussian tests, the Anderson-Darling and the Jarque-Bera have been used to measure the distance from the Gaussian distribution. By increasing the launch power, the received signal distribution starts to deviate from Gaussian. This deviation can have significant effects in system performance evaluation. The use of the Johnson s_U distribution is proposed for the performance evaluation of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing in an uncompensated coherent optical system. Here, the Johnson s_U is extended to predict the performance of multi-subcarrier and also single carrier systems with M-QAM signals. In particular, symbol error rate is derived based on the Johnson s_U distribution and performance estimations are verified through accurate Monte-Carlo simulations based on the split-step Fourier method. In addition, a new formulation for the calculation of signal to noise ratio is presented, which is more accurate than those proposed in the literature. In the linear region, the Johnson based estimations are the same as Gaussian; however, in the nonlinear region, Johnson s_U distribution power prediction is more accurate than the one obtained using the Gaussian approximation, which is verified by the numerical results.
